What's new on Windows 8.1? Here it is


Microsoft did so many changes in the operating system (OS) newest Windows 8.1. This was done in response to a variety of complaints related to the preceding generation OS.

The changes really just minor. Microsoft seemed to fix the small annoyances that are considered to eliminate the OS user comfort.

In terms of appearance no, Microsoft did not change significantly. Users can still find the look of Metro in the OS which has the code name "Blue" is.

Following this, some changes and additions to the existing features in Windows 8.1


The return of the Start button

Prior to Windows 8 launch, users can easily open the application, search features of the Control Panel, to turn off the PC. It is caused by all the features crammed into a Microsoft key, ie the Start.

So, do not be surprised if the old Windows users trouble after realizing that Windows 8 is no longer present with the Start button. To view existing applications, users must enter to view the Metro, while the Control Panel menu button and Shutdown buttons adjoined to a place called Charm Bar.

After receiving many complaints about this button, Microsoft finally return the "Start" button to the Windows 8.1. However, its function is slightly different than the previous generation OS. The "new" is actually just a Metro-style Start screen displays when clicked.

Metro does not want to display when the button is clicked? With a setting, the user can change the view to "All Apps" to restore the workings of the traditional Start button.

Users also can access some of the other menus, such as Task Manager, Control Panel, Search, and Run. The trick is to right click the Start button, automatically the menus will be displayed.

Lock Screen is more cool

Lock screen in Windows 8.1 does not appear monotonous. This screen appears more interactive than Windows 8. Users can attach photo slideshow, receive Skype calls, and access the camera directly from the screen.

Customization is free

Microsoft to allow more customization to the user. One example of such customization is now able to unify the users desktop wallpapers and view Metro. This feature makes the user will not be too confused if you want to move from the desktop to the Start Screen.

Users can still change the size of the box that is on display Metro. However, a slightly different way. To change the moving boxes and applications, the user must hold first. It is seen less intuitive, but it can prevent movement or change in the size of the box by accident.

Search feature changes

Search feature in Windows 8.1 comes more attractive. The system will search for all things related to the words you want to search by user. The system did a search of the hard drive on your PC and websites. For example, if a user types the word "Compass", the system will search for files that are associated with the word in PC and Internet.

Through this feature, users can also run the application. The trick, type a few letters of the name of the software, it will display a list of search results. Just click on the desired application name, then the system will automatically run this software.

Windows 8.1 can run four applications simultaneously

Multitasking is a feature that already exists in Windows since the first. Microsoft is improving the capabilities in Windows 8.1. Users can run four applications simultaneously in a split screen.

However, this feature is highly dependent on the size of the screen. For example, if the user uses 27-inch screen, the system can display four such applications very well. An 8-inch tablet, the system is only capable of displaying 2 alone application window.

In-app "update" automatically

Applications downloaded from the Microsoft app store will automatically be updated when the developer released a new version.

"Boot" directly to the "desktop" classic

In Windows 8, when PC boot-up, the user will be taken straight to the Metro look. Well, in this new OS, users can set, on boot-up, the system brings them to the desktop.

The trick is quite easy. On the desktop, right-click on the task bar, then select "Go to the desktop instead of the Start when I sign in".
